Jade Franks
Jade is an actor, writer and director from Merseyside. The inclusion and celebration of work from and for working class people is vital to Jade’s creative process and believes that the work that goes into building and maintaining relationships with the communities who come to the theatre is as important as the work that goes into creating the shows themselves. She often works with theatres to engage with and radically invite audiences who may not otherwise feel welcome.
For Boundless Jade is developing a play called Eat The Rich (but maybe not me mates x). It is a play which explores the complexities of being working class in upper class spaces. The idea came from a stand up comedy show she performed when she was President of the Footlights about her experience studying at Cambridge University.
Acting/writing credits include: SAGA (BBC Radio 4), Hot In Here (Gate Theatre), One Night Stand with Felix Mufti (Royal Court), Run, Painkiller (Theatre Royal Stratford East).
Outreach credits include: Hot Wing King (The National Theatre), SEEN Lewisham Festival (Nouveau Riche/Catford Broadway), For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Too Heavy (Royal Court, The Apollo, Garrick),
Assistant Directing credits include: Liberation Squares (assisting Milli Bhatia, Brixton House & UK Tour), Cuckoo (assisting Vicky Featherstone, Royal Court)
