Drop by The Box on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Mid July to chat with Rowan about the ways culture thrives in your town, how young people access culture and what can and should be done differently. Help build a piece of market research into ways the next generation of artists can get involved with the sector here in Scarborough and beyond. Rowan is writing a report, which contains recommendations for organisations to help them with youth engagement in the future.

Creative Writing Workshop – Love Letters to Scarborough

Creative Writing Workshops, focussing on the Love Letters to Scarborough Community Exhibit. If you don’t know where to start, these workshops are for you. Join Rowan in The Box for a creative writing session, to unpick, unpack and unlock your creativeness through written words. You don’t need to be the next Shakespeare, just willing to try something new.
Workshops will be 45 minutes, and involve talking about your fondest memories, thinking about the town in a new way and sharing your ideas through written word.

Producing a show 101
Thursday 25th July 2024: 14:00-17:00
This afternoon of workshops is a how to guide for taking a show to a festival.
We will unpick the do’s and don’ts as well as explore the different avenues open to first time theatre producers, seasoned professionals and those who self-produce their work. The workshops will be run by Adele Reeves de Melo, previously Producer, Programmer and Head of Theatre for VAULT Festival, now Executive Producer for Boundless and Rowan, Tour Producer for Theatre Centre and Senior Producer for Boundless.
The 3 hour intensive workshop covers the following areas, with time for a Q&A at the end.
- Producing a Show – how to set yourself up for success
- Taking your show to a festival – how to approach programmers and plan for your festival run
- Budgeting Your Show – keeping track and allocating spend.
This workshop has limited space, it is vital it is booked online. Workshops are completely free to attend.
